Wheel Of God A Message By Arthur Ward God said in Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Not just to the Nation of Israel but a Prophet unto Nations! It was this Prophet of whom the Lord said, Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. God had big plans for Jeremiah. And because we are convinced God has big plans for us as well, I believe it is of great importance that we learn a very valuable lesson by hearing what God is saying to Jeremiah. We read about it in Jeremiah chapter 18 and verse 1. 1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. 3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. 5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel. What I hope we learn in the very beginning of this lesson is, He’s the Potter and we are the clay But, not only is He the Potter and not only are we the clay, But the message we must never forget is, God says, “You are in my hands! It doesn’t matter what is happening right now in my life. If the sun is shining or if its pouring down rain! “I’m in God’s hands!” It doesn’t matter what maybe lurking on the horizon, or what kind of trap the enemy has set. “You’re in God’s hands!” We must understand. If we are going to live victorious, if the future is going to be all its designed to be, then we must perceive and understand, “We are in His hands” Faith becomes so frustrating when we think that we are having to deal with the troubles of life alone. Faith turns into fear when we’re convinced we must handle life’s problems all by ourselves. No one cares about me. I have no help! Lately I’ve been preaching concerning “position and mission.” It would do us well to know who we are before we go after Goliath. If we fail to understand who we are and not know where we are, it will be it impossible to fulfill our mission in life! It becomes impossible to finish our calling. If we just saunter through life without any definition as to where we belong, it will be impossible to fulfill our purpose! Oh, but I can shout with a voice of triumph when I realize, I belong to God. I belong to the one who created all things. He bought me with a price! I don’t belong to the devil! I don’t belong to this world! I Belong to God! Not only do I belong to God, but I am in His hands. Jesus said in St. John 10, 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. I’m in His hands! How many times have we prayed, Oh God, I want to know your will. Oh God, I want to do your will. Every time I stand behind the pulpit, my prayer is always, Lord let me be in your will. Lord, let your will be done in my life. Every time we preach, or sing, it is Oh God, let thy will be done! We don’t want just to play music. We do not want just to sing a song. Lord we are not here just to have a day of entertainment and fellowship. But God, we desire to know your will!! I was in my study preparing and praying for service the next day and I was reading concerning this man, this prophet Jeremiah Something moved on the inside of me and said, “You will never know the will of God until you first understand or perceive the Wheel of God!” There are a lot of Christians who want the will, but do not perceive the wheel! I don’t believe we will ever understand the will of God, until we at least learn the principle of the Wheel of God. When I was just a kid I used to hear the old song, There’s a big wheel, There’s a big wheel, It’s a whole lot bigger than you. There’s a big wheel, There’s a big wheel, It’s a whole lot bigger than me. I never knew what the song meant and possibly still do not today. However, I have come to understand, “There is a Big Wheel!” Go with me into understanding what God was saying to Jeremiah in chapter 18 and verse 2. 2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. While studying about the Potter, the wheel and the clay I found something so amazing. It seems that the potter, when he goes looking for clay, many times he has a pit in which he digs and takes out the clay. Oh but the best clay is not on the surface. The most usable clay is not in the shallow ground. The best clay, the most usable clay is in the deepness of the pit. The clay in which he believes he can make something valuable and worthwhile, comes from the bottom of the pit! The clay that he wants to invest his time in comes from the bottom. Down in the darkness! Oh come on now! David the greatest King Israel ever had, King David the anointed one, David who killed the bear, the lion, and mighty Goliath, cried out in Psalms 40:2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. Sometimes the best comes off the bottom. Sometimes the most anointed preachers come out of the pit. Sometimes the best singers come out of the miry clay! Well praise the Lord!! Do you know that God can reach down in the bottom of life and get a handful of miry clay drug addicts, miry clay drug dealers, miry clay alcoholics, miry clay homosexuals and prostitutes, God can and will make something out of them! I’m talking about the miry clay. Miry comes from the word mire which means, “To sink in mud, or to sink so deep as to be unable to move forward.” When you are in miry clay you are so low you can’t get any lower! You can’t move. You’ve hit bottom. Progress has stopped!! But David said “He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.” I may have been in the miry clay. I may have been miry clay, but the Potter dug me out and He is making something worthwhile and valuable out of me. It has been said, “the further down in the pit you are the slippery the sides of the pit.” Oh, but aren’t you glad, God the Master potter can reach further down that we can slip. Can you remember when He brought you out, set your feet on the rock. That is a day you will never forget! Many times we write that date in our bibles. We remember the place and the time. We remember the song they were singing, the color the carpet or the old hard wood floors. We tell the stories over and over of the night clubs when Jesus walked in and rescued us, He saved me, He raised me. Oh but WE MUST BE CAREFUL. The thinking of Christendom today is that when we got saved and when we were filled with the Holy Ghost, we have reached some kind of pinnacle, we have arrived! Now all that is left, is to die and go to heaven. If that is your thinking you are so far from the truth! The truth is we have just been fully birthed and now ready to be built for the will of God. Just as sure as He reached in the pit and brought you out, now He wants to make you! So often we pray, “Oh Lord let me know your will.” And all the time its not God’s will we are after It the blessings! We have folks that get out of the pit, but, don’t understand the wheel of God. I said the wheel of God! We will find the will as we understand the wheel. The truth is we don’t stay on the wheel long enough to become anything. Because on the wheel, The Potter is in charge! When I was kid back home we didn’t have toys so we made our own. We made what we called “A Flying Jenny.” We took a log or a pole and dug a deep hole in the ground and stuck this pole into it. It stood 4 to 5 feet tall and right in the middle of it we drove a Iron rod or a big bolt and then got a big piece of timber and drilled a hole in the middle and set the board in over that iron rod From a distance it looked like an extra tall seesaw but it was far more than a seesaw. This thing not only when up and down it went around and around at seemingly 600 MPH, depending on who’s pushing. When I was real small we had one that I don’t remember. I wasn’t that I was too young. It’s just that one day we were playing on it and I walked into it while it was going and it hit me in the head and knocked me out. That’s why I don’t remember it. My point is, “The best place to be was on the wheel.” One day we were out at the park in Irving, Texas, riding the Merry go round. My oldest brother wanted off the merry go round but no one would stop. So, he just jump off and broke his back. Hey stay on the wheel! You may get sick and vomit but stay on the wheel. Can I show you something? The whole creation speaks of the very nature of God. Isaiah 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; Columbus must have been reading this when he said “I believe the earth is round! Isn’t it amazing that Life is a cycle all the way from youth to aged from birth to death. Life is a wheel. What does a wheel do? It goes around and around. The earth rotates on an axis. The moon goes around the earth. The earth rotates around the sun. The stars and the planets all rotate in the galaxy and the universe. The tree comes out of the soil, falls down becomes soil again. God said in Genesis 3:19, For dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. It seems that the whole idea of God is based on a wheel system!! And in order to know the will of God for you life you got to understand you’re on the wheel. You’re not just having trouble, your on the wheel, Your not just having problems, your on the wheel. Someone has not just got you targeted to talk bad about you. You’re on the wheel!! Some say, “But you don’t understand.” I may not but I’m on the wheel! The Potter has his fingers and His hands in your spirit and He’s making something out of you If you’ll stay on the wheel long enough you’ll be valuable. You’ll be worth something! And if I know that, then my faith tells me everything is all right! It doesn’t matter how many doctors are bent over me looking me in the face telling me what they think. Man I’m on the wheel I doesn’t matter how dizzy I get or how much I vomit or how much they vomit on me. I’m on the wheel. That’s what Job was saying when He said, I know my redeemer liveth. I am on the wheel and He has His hands around me. Making me DOUBLE FOR MY TROUBLE! You see if you know you’re on the wheel, your car may be broken down, someone may have dented your door in the parking lot, you may have just found drugs in the boy’s room, your little 13 year old girl has just run away from home, but, if you don’t realize that you are on the wheel, then everything that happens becomes doubt, bitterness, mistrust, anger, disappointment and fear!! And when faith becomes frustrated, when nothing makes any sense, that’s when the enemy comes and says, “You had it better in the pit!” You were better off in the pit! Hear me Child of God, the pit is not an option. Stay on the wheel! You can’t go back to the way it was, Stay on the wheel! Things will never be the same, but things can be better! Hebrews 12, 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. The first thing we start to do is pray, “Lord Get me off this crazy wheel!” But it is while we are on the wheel that God is molding us! Jeremiah in chapter 18 said,,, 3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. We ask God for His will and things start happening that we don’t like so we want off the wheel. I didn’t expect that God. We ask God to save our family. So the entire family gets evicted thrown out into the street together! It’s the first time you’ve been together in one mind and one accord in months. “Well, God, I didn’t know that was how you were going to do it!” We all wind up in an emergency room at the hospital! “Wait God I want your will.” This is His will! The deal is the wheel! When we’re on the wheel He changes us and we don’t want to be changed! James said “Count it all joy!” James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. He says you know this. You understand this. You can rejoice in trials and tribulation only if you perceive the wheel! He wants us to be the quality He knows we can be. He already knows what the vessel is going to look like. You may be a blob right now, but He knows what you’re going to be! Stay on the wheel! Say, “I’m going to church any how, even if I have to walk, I’m going to be there. I’m going love the Lord. I not going to let someone stir up strife in my heart. I going to stay on the wheel! Whatever you are going through is not too much. There is not one of us, that have a work for God to do, but we will have to spend some time on the wheel. Because when He puts us on the wheel He puts his hand in us He reshapes us. He pushes on us and reshapes us. He brings us to the center and molds us! Can I share one more thing! You see things were not going as fast as Judas wanted them to go. Things were not happening according to the will of Judas! So instead of staying in the will and on the wheel Judas went out and betrayed the Lord for 30 pieces of silver. The Bible says, Matthew 27:3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, Judas saw what was happening to Jesus. So He goes back to the Chief Priest and the elders He repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. verse 5, And he (Judas) cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. 7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. 8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. 9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; 10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me. They went and made a deal for the Potter’s Field. Often the Potter would find clay that was not inclined to become a willing vessel. Clay that was unusable! And he would throw it out the window or put in a wheel barrow and take it out to the field. Archeologist have found potter’s fields where the unusable and broken clay would be 6 to 8 feet deep. Broken vessels that refused to become useful. Refused to let the Potter make them. Just like Judas, “I want it my way!” Isn’t it strange that is what they used the 30 pieces of silver for to buy a Potter’s field! A field of clay that refused to be used! I believe God is asking the same question HE asked of Jeremiah and the House of Israel, Cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel. Stay on the wheel. Your in the Potter’s hands and He’s not finished making of you something beautiful. So often we pray, Jesus use Lord please don’t refuse. And God says, If you want me to use you get on the wheel. If you never make it to the wheel all you remain is a clump of clay. You may have come up out of the pit, but the truth is you never become a vessel and never know the full meaning of the will of God until you experience the wheel of God. |
