In 1996 they were auctioning off items that belonged to the Jackie Kennedy Onassis estate, the former wife of the late President John F Kennedy.

The auction that lasted several days and nights, was expected to bring in a total of $5 million. However, on the very first night they took in $4.5 million.

A worn footstool went for $33,350. A silver tape measure sold for $48,875. That evening the highest price was paid for a walnut tobacco humidor that had belong to President Kennedy, which sold for $574,500.

Of all the items that were auctioned throughout the evenings, many were simple and common items. However, they became valuable because of whom they belong to.
